Position: Academic Advisor

Location: Samba Polytechnic

Overview: Samba Polytechnic is seeking a highly-motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a key role in helping students achieve their academic and career goals. You will be responsible for providing academic guidance, support, and resources to students, ensuring their success and satisfaction during their academic journey.

Responsibilities:

• Advise and guide students on academic requirements, course selection, and degree planning to help them achieve their educational goals.
• Monitor and evaluate students' academic progress, identify areas of improvement, and provide necessary support and resources to help them succeed.
• Assist students in understanding and navigating the university's policies, procedures, and academic requirements.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement programs and initiatives that will support students' academic success and retention.
• Conduct one-on-one advising sessions with students to discuss their academic progress, career goals, and any challenges they may be facing.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students' academic progress and advising sessions.
• Provide information and resources to students on internships, study abroad programs, and other experiential learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with other academic advisors and departments to ensure a seamless and efficient advising process for students.
• Stay current with university policies, academic programs, and industry trends to provide accurate and relevant information to students.
• Participate in university events and activities to promote academic advising services and engage with students.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in academic advising or counseling in a higher education setting.
• Strong knowledge of academic programs and requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficient in using technology and student information systems.
• Familiarity with student development theory and academic support strategies.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population.
