Job Title: Library Director

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Library Director to lead our organization's library services. The Library Director will oversee the strategic direction, planning, and operation of all library programs and services. They will also serve as the main liaison between the library and other internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for libraries and a proven track record of successful library management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic plans for the library, including long-term goals, objectives, and policies.
• Oversee the daily operations of the library, including budget management, staffing, and facilities management.
• Lead and supervise a team of library staff, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and individuals to promote library services and programs.
• Collaborate with other departments within the organization to ensure the library's goals align with the overall mission and vision.
• Keep up-to-date with the latest library trends and technologies to enhance the library's offerings and services.
• Develop and manage the library's collection, including selecting and acquiring new materials, and weeding out outdated or irrelevant materials.
• Plan and implement innovative library programs and events to engage and educate the community.
• Oversee the library's digital presence, including the library website and social media accounts.
• Act as a liaison between the library and local government officials, advocating for funding and resources.
• Develop and manage the library's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and responsible financial management.
• Prepare and present reports to the library board and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in library management, with a strong understanding of library operations, policies, and procedures.
• Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
• In-depth knowledge of library technologies and trends, and the ability to implement and utilize them for the benefit of the library and its patrons.
• Knowledge of budget management and financial planning.
• Passion for libraries and a commitment to providing excellent library services to the community.
