Position: Special Education Coordinator

Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Special Education Coordinator to join our dynamic team. As a Special Education Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that students with special needs receive the support and services they require to succeed academically and socially. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Your passion for inclusive education and strong organizational skills will be vital in helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to identify students who require special education services and develop appropriate IEPs
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to determine the individual needs of students with disabilities
• Monitor and track the progress of students with special needs, adjust IEPs as needed, and provide support and guidance to teachers and support staff
• Ensure that all special education services and accommodations are implemented in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on their child's progress and address any concerns or questions
• Coordinate and facilitate meetings and trainings for teachers and support staff to enhance their knowledge and understanding of special education services and strategies
• Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to provide additional support and resources for students with disabilities
• Stay up-to-date on new developments and trends in special education and incorporate them into practice
• Manage and maintain accurate records and documentation of all special education services and activities
• Serve as a liaison between the school and outside agencies, including attending meetings and advocating for students with special needs when necessary

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
• Valid state teaching certification in Special Education
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working in special education, preferably in a leadership role
• Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful IEPs and monitor student progress
• Experience with conducting assessments and evaluations for students with disabilities
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
