Position: Timber Harvesting Manager

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Timber Harvesting Manager to join our team. As the Timber Harvesting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the timber harvesting process, from planning to execution. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and sustainable management of our timber resources.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement harvesting plans in accordance with company policies and regulations
• Coordinate with landowners, loggers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations
• Supervise and manage a team of harvesting personnel, including loggers, truck drivers, and support staff
• Monitor and control harvesting activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery to ensure proper functioning and maintenance
• Manage the procurement of materials and supplies needed for harvesting operations
• Analyze and report on harvesting data and make recommendations for improvements and cost savings
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to negotiate favorable contracts and pricing
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in harvesting techniques to continuously improve operations
• Collaborate with other departments, such as forestry and land management, to develop long-term harvesting plans
• Provide training and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and knowledge
• Resolve any operational issues or disputes that may arise during harvesting operations

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resource management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in timber harvesting operations
• Strong knowledge of harvesting techniques, equipment, and regulations
• Proven experience in managing a team and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Proficient in data analysis and reporting
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and make quick, informed decisions
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to different job sites as needed
