Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary point of contact for students regarding academic matters
Conduct one-on-one advising sessions with students to discuss their academic progress and provide guidance on course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies
Collaborate with faculty and other academic departments to ensure students are meeting academic requirements and to resolve any issues that may arise
Assist students in developing personalized academic plans that align with their career goals
Monitor and track student progress, identify any potential academic challenges, and provide proactive support and resources to help students overcome them
Stay up-to-date on changes in academic policies, procedures, and curriculum to accurately advise students
Organize and facilitate workshops and information sessions to educate students on academic resources and strategies for success
Maintain accurate and confidential student records and document all advising interactions
Collaborate with other academic advisors to develop and implement best practices for student advising
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance advising skills and knowledge of academic programs and resources

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in academic advising, preferably in a higher education setting
Knowledge of academic policies and procedures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems
High level of organization and attention to detail
Demonstrated commitment to student success and a passion for helping students achieve their goals
