Position: Academic Support Specialist

Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Academic Support Specialist. As an Academic Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing academic assistance to students, faculty, and staff within our institution. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that students receive the necessary support to succeed academically and achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic support to students, including tutoring, study skills development, and academic coaching.
• Collaborate with faculty to identify and address academic concerns of students.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions for students on various academic topics such as time management, note-taking, and test-taking strategies.
• Develop and maintain academic support resources, including online tutorials, study guides, and reference materials.
• Assist in the development and implementation of academic support programs and initiatives.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to faculty and staff.
• Communicate with students, faculty, and staff regarding academic support services and resources.
• Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of peer tutors and mentors.
• Participate in departmental and institutional meetings and events as needed.
• Stay current with trends and best practices in academic support and higher education.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in academic support, teaching, or counseling.
• Strong understanding of learning theories and academic support strategies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Proficiency in using technology and online resources for academic support.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
