This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive tasks. You will be working in a workshop environment, which may be noisy and dusty. The furniture upholsterer must also be comfortable working with various chemicals and adhesives. This is a full-time position, with occasional overtime required to meet project deadlines.

Job Title: Furniture Upholsterer

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Furniture Upholsterer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for furniture and upholstery, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work. As a Furniture Upholsterer, you will be responsible for the repair, restoration, and creation of upholstered furniture pieces.

Key Responsibilities:

• Examine furniture pieces to determine the extent of repair or restoration needed
• Remove old fabric and padding, as well as repair any damaged frames or springs
• Measure and cut new fabric to fit the furniture piece
• Sew or staple fabric onto furniture frame, ensuring a smooth and even appearance
• Add padding and batting to provide comfort and shape to the furniture piece
• Apply finishing touches, such as decorative trims or buttons
• Inspect final product for quality and make any necessary adjustments
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency
• Collaborate with designers and clients to create custom furniture pieces
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and techniques for furniture upholstery

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in furniture upholstery
• Strong knowledge of different types of fabric and their appropriate uses
• Proficient in using various tools and equipment, such as sewing machines and staple guns
• Ability to read and interpret furniture schematics and blueprints
• Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy furniture pieces
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members
