Location: Galaxy Reach City, Cape Town, South Africa

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: EUR: €21,000 - €34,000 per year

About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students on their academic journey. You will work closely with students to help them achieve their academic goals and ensure they are on track to graduate successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic guidance and support to students, including course selection, degree planning, and academic progress monitoring.
• Conduct one-on-one advising sessions with students to discuss their academic goals, interests, and concerns.
• Assist students in developing and implementing academic plans that align with their personal and professional aspirations.
• Monitor students' academic progress and intervene when necessary to address any challenges or issues that may arise.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement academic support programs and initiatives.
• Stay up-to-date on academic policies, procedures, and requirements to accurately advise students.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of student advising sessions and academic progress.
• Attend and participate in department meetings and training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or a similar role.
• Knowledge of academic policies, procedures, and requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and student information systems.
• High level of empathy and understanding of students' needs.
• Familiarity with student development theories and academic support strategies.
