Job Title: Academic Advisor

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in helping students achieve their academic goals and provide guidance and support throughout their academic journey. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of academic programs, and a passion for helping students succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise students on academic requirements, course selection, and degree planning to ensure timely graduation
• Assist students in developing academic goals and creating a roadmap to achieve them
• Monitor students' academic progress and provide support and guidance when needed
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and address student needs and concerns
• Provide information on academic policies, procedures, and resources to students
• Assist students in navigating the registration process and resolving any issues that may arise
• Organize and conduct academic advising sessions, both one-on-one and group sessions
• Conduct academic success workshops and presentations to students
• Stay updated on changes in academic programs and policies to provide accurate and up-to-date information to students
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of student interactions and progress
• Participate in departmental and university-wide events and initiatives related to academic advising
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve and enhance the academic advising experience for students

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or counseling in a higher education setting
• Strong knowledge of academic programs, policies, and procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems
• Experience working with diverse student populations is a plus
