Job Title: Academic Advisor

Position Overview: We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students, helping them to achieve their academic and career goals. You will work closely with students to assist them in selecting courses, planning their academic path, and addressing any academic challenges they may face. The ideal candidate for this role should have a passion for education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic advising and support to students, both in person and through electronic communication.
• Assist students in selecting courses that align with their academic and career goals.
• Help students understand degree requirements and create a plan to successfully complete their program.
• Conduct regular check-ins with students to monitor their academic progress and address any concerns or challenges they may be facing.
• Collaborate with faculty and other academic advisors to ensure students receive accurate and up-to-date information.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the university's academic policies and procedures.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in academic requirements to provide students with relevant and timely information.
• Assist students with registration, course changes, and other administrative tasks.
• Provide support to students with academic challenges and refer them to appropriate resources when necessary.
• Organize and participate in academic events and workshops to assist students in their educational and career development.
• Maintain accurate and updated records of student interactions and progress.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or a related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in using technology and computer software, including student information systems.
• Knowledge of academic policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with career development and counseling techniques.
• Ability to work with a diverse student population and maintain confidentiality.
• Commitment to providing outstanding customer service to students.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
