Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate locomotives to transport freight to designated destinations
Conduct pre and post-trip inspections of locomotives to ensure they are in proper working condition
Monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure proper functioning of locomotive systems
Communicate with dispatchers and other crew members to coordinate train movements and ensure safe operations
Follow all safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and incidents
Troubleshoot and report any mechanical issues or malfunctions to maintenance personnel for repairs
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations
Keep accurate records of train movements, inspections, and maintenance activities
Provide exceptional customer service to passengers and clients, answering questions and addressing concerns in a professional and courteous manner

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent education required
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Locomotive Engineer
Valid locomotive engineer certification from accredited training program
Strong knowledge of locomotive mechanics, including diesel engines, air brakes, and electrical systems
Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures for operating locomotives
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and ability to multitask
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
