Key Responsibilities:

Manage a team of rail yard workers, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
Oversee the loading and unloading of cargo from trains, ensuring proper handling and storage procedures are followed
Coordinate with train operators and dispatchers to ensure timely and efficient movement of trains in and out of the rail yard
Monitor and maintain safety protocols, including conducting regular safety inspections and implementing corrective actions as needed
Maintain accurate records of train movements, cargo handling, and inventory levels
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise, such as equipment malfunctions or weather-related delays
Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance and customer service, to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
Implement and enforce company policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations, to ensure compliance and safety
Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and productivity
Monitor and manage budget and expenses related to the rail yard operations
Provide regular reports and updates to upper management regarding the performance and operations of the rail yard facility.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in rail yard operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Strong knowledge of rail yard operations, safety protocols, and federal and state regulations
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in using computer systems and software for record-keeping and reporting
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
