Job Title: Academic Advisor

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students throughout their academic journey. You will play a crucial role in helping students achieve their educational goals and ensure their success in their chosen field of study. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of academic programs, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping students succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic advising to students on course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies and procedures
• Assist students in developing academic plans that align with their career goals and interests
• Monitor students' academic progress and provide interventions when necessary
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement academic support programs and initiatives
• Serve as a resource for students by providing information on campus resources, study skills, time management, and other academic success strategies
• Conduct individual and group advising sessions to address students' academic concerns and provide guidance on problem-solving techniques
• Manage a caseload of students and maintain accurate and up-to-date advising records
• Participate in new student orientation and other campus events to provide academic advising and support to students
• Stay up-to-date on changes in academic policies and procedures and communicate updates to students and colleagues
• Collaborate with other academic advisors and departments to ensure a seamless and efficient advising process for students
• Assist with the development and implementation of retention strategies to ensure students' academic success
• Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, and other stakeholders
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or a related field
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong knowledge of academic programs, policies, and procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and student information systems
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Passion for helping students achieve their academic goals
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
