Job Title: Environmental Cleanup Technician

Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Environmental Cleanup Technician to join our team. As an Environmental Cleanup Technician, you will be responsible for conducting environmental cleanup and remediation activities in various work settings such as industrial sites, landfills, and contaminated water bodies. Your primary goal will be to ensure that hazardous materials and pollutants are properly contained, removed, and disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting site inspections and assessments to identify potential environmental hazards
• Developing and implementing cleanup plans based on the findings of site assessments
• Operating and maintaining equipment used for environmental cleanup, such as pumps, vacuums, and air monitoring devices
• Collecting samples of soil, water, and air for laboratory analysis to determine the level of contamination
• Performing cleanup activities, including excavation, pumping, and remediation of contaminated soil and water
• Ensuring that all cleanup activities are carried out in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
• Documenting all cleanup activities and maintaining accurate records
• Training and supervising junior technicians and laborers on safe and proper cleanup procedures
• Communicating with project managers and clients to provide updates on the progress of cleanup activities
• Participating in emergency response efforts in the event of spills or other environmental incidents

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental cleanup or related field
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and guidelines
• Experience operating and maintaining equipment used for environmental cleanup
• Ability to interpret and analyze data from environmental samples
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing work conditions
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols
• Ability to work in physically demanding and sometimes hazardous environments
• Willingness to travel and work on different job sites as needed
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
