Title: Academic Advisor

Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students to achieve their academic goals. You will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to provide them with the necessary resources and support to succeed in their academic journey. Responsibilities:

• Provide academic advising to a diverse group of students, including freshmen, transfer, and international students.
• Assist students in creating academic plans and course schedules that align with their career goals and academic requirements.
• Monitor students' academic progress and intervene when necessary to ensure they are on track to graduate.
• Conduct individual and group advising sessions to discuss academic and career-related topics.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement retention strategies for at-risk students.
• Serve as a resource for students seeking information on academic policies, procedures, and resources.
• Facilitate workshops and presentations on academic success strategies, time management, and study skills.
• Assist with registration and orientation processes for new students.
• Stay up-to-date on current university policies, programs, and degree requirements to accurately advise students.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or counseling in a higher education setting.
• Strong knowledge of academic programs, policies, and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students and adapt advising techniques to meet their needs.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Experience with academic advising software and student information systems.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
