Position: Student Services Advisor

Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Student Services Advisor to join our team. As a Student Services Advisor, you will play a crucial role in providing academic and personal support to students. You will be responsible for ensuring a positive and successful educational experience for all students by providing guidance, resources, and support services. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping students achieve their full potential and making a positive impact in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for students, providing guidance and support on academic and personal matters
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the institution's policies, procedures, and resources to effectively assist students
• Conduct student advising sessions to assist students with course selection, degree planning, and academic progress monitoring
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and address any academic or personal issues that may affect student success
• Coordinate and facilitate workshops or seminars on topics such as time management, study skills, and stress management to support student development
• Monitor student performance and intervene as needed to connect students with appropriate resources or support services
• Manage a caseload of students and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of advising sessions and interactions
• Stay current on industry trends and best practices in student advising to continuously improve the quality of services provided to students
• Act as a liaison between students and other departments, including financial aid, admissions, and registrar, to ensure seamless communication and support for students
• Assist with the planning and execution of events and activities aimed at enhancing the student experience
• Participate in department meetings and trainings to stay informed about updates and changes in policies and procedures
• Collaborate with other Student Services Advisors to develop and implement strategies for improving student retention and success rates
• Work closely with the Career Services department to support students' career development and placement opportunities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in student advising or a similar role
• Knowledge of academic advising principles and best practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems
• Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic educational environment
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
• Passion for helping students achieve their academic and personal goals
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to student services is a plus
