Position Title: Academic Advisor

About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our dynamic team. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students through their academic journey. You will be responsible for providing academic counseling, developing academic plans, and ensuring students have a successful and fulfilling college experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic advising to a diverse student population, including undergraduate and graduate students, to help them successfully navigate their academic journey.
• Conduct one-on-one advising sessions with students to understand their academic goals, interests, strengths, and challenges.
• Develop personalized academic plans for students based on their academic goals, program requirements, and university policies.
• Monitor students' academic progress and provide proactive support and intervention to ensure they are on track to meet their academic goals.
• Assist students in selecting appropriate courses, major or minor programs, and other academic opportunities that align with their interests and career aspirations.
• Educate students on university policies, procedures, and resources, and refer them to relevant support services as needed.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement initiatives to enhance the academic experience of students.
• Organize and participate in academic events, workshops, and orientations to promote academic success and student retention.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student advising sessions and academic plans.
• Stay updated on current trends, best practices, and new developments in academic advising and higher education.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in academic advising or counseling in a higher education setting.
• Knowledge of academic policies, procedures, and requirements in a university setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to student success.
• Proficiency in using technology and advising software.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate students' schedules.
