Job Description: As an Academic Advisor, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students throughout their academic journey. You will be responsible for providing academic and career guidance, assisting with course selection, and helping students navigate through any academic challenges they may face. Your main goal will be to ensure that students have a successful and fulfilling college experience.

Key Responsibilities: Advising: You will be the primary point of contact for students, providing personalized academic and career advice. This includes helping students understand their degree requirements, course options, and academic policies.

Course Selection: You will work closely with students to help them select the right courses, based on their academic goals and interests. You will also monitor students' progress and make recommendations for any necessary changes to their course schedule.

Academic Support: As an Academic Advisor, you will assist students who are struggling academically by connecting them with resources such as tutoring, study groups, and academic workshops. You will also work with students to develop academic success plans and help them stay on track towards graduation.

Career Guidance: You will provide students with information about career options related to their major and help them develop a plan for pursuing their desired career path. This may include assisting with resume building, interview preparation, and internship opportunities.

New Student Orientation: You will play a key role in helping new students transition to college life. This may involve leading orientation sessions, introducing students to campus resources, and answering any questions they may have about academic requirements and expectations.

Academic Events: You will organize and participate in academic events such as workshops, information sessions, and advising fairs. These events will provide students with valuable information and resources to help them succeed academically.

Record-Keeping: You will maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student advising sessions and monitor students' academic progress. This information will be used to track students' success and make recommendations for any necessary interventions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field
• Previous experience in academic advising or counseling preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with diverse populations and handle sensitive information with confidentiality
• Knowledge of academic policies and procedures
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems
