Job Title: Community Development Specialist

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Development Specialist to join our team. As a Community Development Specialist, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with individuals and organizations within the community to promote growth and development. You will play a crucial role in identifying community needs and implementing strategies to address them. A successful candidate for this role will have excellent communication and networking skills, a passion for community development, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, organizations, businesses, and residents.
• Conduct research and gather data on community needs, issues, and trends.
• Develop and implement strategies to address community needs and promote growth and development.
• Collaborate with various departments and external partners to plan and execute community events and initiatives.
• Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support community development projects.
• Create and distribute educational materials, resources, and programs to engage and empower the community.
• Facilitate meetings and discussions with community members to gather feedback and input on development plans.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of community development initiatives and make necessary adjustments to ensure effectiveness.
• Serve as a liaison between the community and local government, advocating for community needs and interests.
• Stay up-to-date on relevant policies, regulations, and laws that may impact community development efforts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in community development, social work, urban planning, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in community development, community organizing, or a related field.
• Knowledge of community development principles, strategies, and best practices.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups of people.
• Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Passion for community development and a strong commitment to improving the lives of community members.
