Job Title: Public Transit Conductor

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and customer service-oriented individual to join our team as a Public Transit Conductor. As a Conductor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our public transit system. You will be interacting with passengers on a daily basis, collecting fares, and providing information and assistance to passengers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor the transit vehicle according to the established schedule and route
• Collect fares and issue tickets to passengers
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting passengers with route information and answering any questions or concerns
• Ensure the safety of passengers by following all traffic laws and regulations
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition
• Communicate any delays or issues to the appropriate personnel
• Handle cash and maintain accurate records of fares collected
• Maintain a clean and orderly transit vehicle
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures
• Attend training sessions and meetings as required
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Previous experience as a transit operator or in a customer service role is preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle cash and maintain accurate records
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach
• Must have good vision and hearing

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed primarily in a transit vehicle
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
• May be required to work overtime as needed
• Must be able to handle challenging and difficult situations with professionalism and composure
