Position: Multimedia Journalist

Location: Mekele, Ethiopia

About the Role: As a Multimedia Journalist, you will play a pivotal role in our newsroom, producing engaging and informative multimedia content for our audience. You will be responsible for researching, writing, and reporting on a wide range of topics, including breaking news, feature stories, and investigative pieces. Your work will be distributed across various platforms, including print, digital, and social media.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough research on assigned topics and gather information from various sources, including interviews, press releases, and online databases.
• Develop and pitch story ideas that are relevant and appealing to our target audience.
• Write clear, concise, and accurate news articles, features, and other multimedia content.
• Produce engaging videos, podcasts, and other multimedia elements to accompany written content.
• Collaborate with photographers, videographers, and graphic designers to create visually appealing and compelling content.
• Utilize social media platforms to promote and distribute content to a wider audience.
• Attend news conferences, events, and other assignments as needed.
• Stay up-to-date with current events and industry trends to identify potential story ideas.
• Adhere to ethical and professional standards set by the company and uphold the principles of fair and accurate reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a multimedia journalist in a fast-paced news environment.
• Proven experience in writing and producing compelling multimedia content.
• Strong understanding of journalistic principles, ethics, and standards.
• Excellent research, writing, and editing skills.
• Proficient in video and audio editing software.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and their use in news distribution.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
