Job Title: Academic Advisor

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team and provide guidance to students on their academic journey. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a crucial role in helping students achieve their academic goals and make informed decisions about their education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet with students to discuss their academic progress and provide guidance on course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies.
• Assist students in creating personalized academic plans that align with their interests, strengths, and career goals.
• Stay up-to-date on program and curriculum changes, as well as university policies and procedures, in order to provide accurate and relevant information to students.
• Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and other advisors to develop and implement effective academic advising strategies.
• Monitor students' academic performance and recommend appropriate interventions, such as tutoring or study strategies, to help them succeed.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of student interactions and academic plans.
• Utilize various technological tools, such as student information systems and degree planning software, to aid in academic advising.
• Participate in orientation programs and other campus events to promote academic advising services and educate students on academic resources.
• Stay informed about current trends and best practices in academic advising and higher education in order to continuously improve advising services.
• Serve as a resource for students on a wide range of academic and non-academic issues, and refer students to appropriate campus resources when needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as education, counseling, or psychology.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or a related field.
• Knowledge of academic programs and degree requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with students.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficiency in using technology for academic advising.
• Familiarity with best practices in academic advising and student success.
