Position: Academic Advisor

Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Academic Advisor. In this role, you will be responsible for providing academic guidance and support to students in order to help them achieve their educational goals. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a crucial role in helping students navigate their academic journey and make informed decisions about their academic pursuits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet with students one-on-one to discuss their academic goals and develop individualized academic plans
• Provide guidance on course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies and procedures
• Monitor students' academic progress and identify any potential issues or obstacles
• Assist students in creating a balanced and manageable course schedule
• Collaborate with faculty and other university staff to ensure students receive the necessary support and resources
• Stay up-to-date on university programs, policies, and procedures in order to provide accurate and relevant information to students
• Develop and deliver workshops and presentations on topics such as time management, study skills, and academic success strategies
• Refer students to appropriate resources and support services as needed
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or a similar role
• Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems
• Understanding of diverse student populations and ability to provide culturally sensitive advising
• Positive and student-centered attitude
