Position Title: Academic Advisor

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in providing academic guidance and support to students, helping them navigate their educational journey and achieve their academic goals. The ideal candidate for this role is a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to student success and a passion for higher education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for students seeking academic advising and support
• Assist students in creating and implementing academic plans that align with their educational and career goals
• Provide guidance on course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies and procedures
• Monitor students' academic progress and identify any areas of concern, providing appropriate interventions and referrals when necessary
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement support programs for students, including study skills workshops, academic success coaching, and tutoring services
• Stay up-to-date on university academic programs, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely advising
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of student interactions and progress
• Participate in departmental meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities to enhance advising skills and knowledge
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of academic advising processes and services
• Serve as a representative of the university at recruitment events and assist with orientation and registration activities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or a related field
• Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures
• Strong understanding of academic programs and degree requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficient in using technology and student information systems
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Passion for helping students achieve their academic goals
