Position: Publishing Editor

Location: Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire

About the Role: As a Publishing Editor at PublishPros, you will play a crucial role in shaping the content and direction of our publications. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire publishing process, from acquiring manuscripts to finalizing layouts and preparing for print or digital distribution. We are looking for someone with a strong eye for detail and a passion for creating high-quality content in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Acquire manuscripts and oversee the selection process for publication, ensuring that all content meets our standards and aligns with our brand
• Collaborate with authors, editors, and designers to refine manuscripts and create visually appealing layouts
• Edit and proofread manuscripts to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, setting and meeting deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality
• Develop and maintain relationships with authors, ensuring that their needs and concerns are addressed throughout the publishing process
• Keep up-to-date with industry trends and changes in the publishing landscape, and make recommendations for improvements to our processes and strategies
• Communicate with printers, distributors, and other vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective production and distribution of publications
• Work closely with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and strategies to increase the visibility and reach of our publications
• Monitor and analyze sales data to identify opportunities for growth and make data-driven decisions to improve future publications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in publishing, with a strong understanding of the entire publishing process
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Proven experience in editing and proofreading, with a strong understanding of grammar, punctuation, and style guidelines
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with authors, editors, and other team members
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
• Familiarity with industry-standard publishing software (such as InDesign or QuarkXPress)
• Knowledge of digital publishing platforms and trends is a plus
• Passion for literature and a strong understanding of the publishing industry
