About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Railroad Design Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Railroad Design Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of railroad design projects, from conceptual layouts to final construction plans. You will work closely with clients, engineers, and other team members to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed design plans and specifications for railroad projects, including alignment, grade, drainage, and structural elements
• Conduct site visits and surveys to gather data and evaluate project requirements
• Utilize industry software and tools to create 2D and 3D design models
• Collaborate with clients, engineers, and other team members to ensure project requirements are met and designs are optimized
• Prepare and review design calculations, cost estimates, and reports
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols
• Manage project schedules and budgets, monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed
• Communicate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to provide updates and address any concerns
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
• Stay current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and outcomes

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in railroad design, preferably with a focus on freight rail
• Extensive knowledge of railroad engineering principles, practices, and regulations
• Proficiency in industry software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and InRoads
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
