Job Title: Livestock Handler

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Livestock Handler to join our team. As a Livestock Handler, you will be responsible for the daily care and management of our livestock, ensuring their health and well-being. This is a physically demanding role that requires individuals with a strong work ethic and a passion for animal care. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with livestock and a deep understanding of their behaviors and needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide daily care and management for livestock including feeding, watering, and cleaning of stalls or pens
• Monitor the health and well-being of livestock and report any concerns to the supervisor
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Assist with breeding and birthing procedures
• Maintain accurate records of feed and medication administration, breeding and birthing records, and any other necessary documentation
• Ensure proper handling and transportation of livestock during loading and unloading
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the regular maintenance and cleaning of barns, pens, and equipment
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for both animals and employees
• Participate in training programs and workshops to continually improve knowledge and skills related to livestock handling and care

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in animal science or related field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with livestock, preferably in a farm or ranch setting
• Experience with breeding and birthing procedures preferred
• Strong understanding of animal behavior and needs
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods of time
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to livestock handling
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
