Key Responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate the movement of trains and railcars in and out of the yard, including switching and classification of cars, to ensure timely and efficient operations
Monitor and maintain yard inventory levels, ensuring that there is sufficient space available for incoming and outgoing trains
Communicate with train crews and other personnel to ensure timely and accurate movement of trains and railcars
Utilize computerized systems to track train movements and maintain accurate records of yard activities
Coordinate with maintenance and repair teams to ensure that railcars are properly serviced and repaired as needed
Enforce safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees
Train and supervise yard personnel, providing guidance and support as needed
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations and resolve any issues that may arise
Conduct regular inspections of the yard to identify potential hazards or safety concerns and take appropriate action to address them
Monitor and manage the performance of yard operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to increase efficiency and productivity
Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and best practices, and implement changes as necessary to ensure compliance

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in railroad operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
In-depth knowledge of railroad operations and safety regulations
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in computer systems and software used in railroad operations
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
