Position: Academic Advisor

Job Description: As an Academic Advisor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students on their academic journey. You will serve as a mentor, guide, and advocate for students, providing them with the necessary resources and support to help them achieve their academic goals.Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with students to create personalized academic plans that align with their interests, strengths, and career aspirations. You will use your expertise to advise students on course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies, ensuring that they are on track to complete their degree in a timely manner.In addition to academic advising, you will also be responsible for monitoring students' progress and identifying any potential issues that may hinder their academic success. You will proactively reach out to students who are struggling academically and provide them with the necessary support and resources to help them improve.As an Academic Advisor, you will also collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement programs and initiatives that support student success. This may include organizing workshops, seminars, and events that promote academic excellence, time management, and study skills.Furthermore, you will serve as a liaison between students and various departments within the university, such as financial aid, career services, and disability support services. You will provide students with information and guidance on resources available to them and refer them to the appropriate departments when needed.Your role as an Academic Advisor extends beyond academic matters. You will also be responsible for providing students with emotional support and guidance as they navigate through their academic journey. You will listen to their concerns, provide them with a safe space to express themselves, and help them develop strategies to overcome any challenges they may face.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years experience in academic advising or a related field
• Strong knowledge of academic policies and procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Empathetic and supportive nature
• Familiarity with student information systems and advising software
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
