Title: Mortuary Technician

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mortuary Technician to join our team. As a Mortuary Technician, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the care and preparation of deceased individuals for funeral services. This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to detail and a strong understanding of mortuary processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive, identify, and transport deceased individuals to the mortuary.
• Prepare bodies for embalming, including cleaning, dressing, and positioning.
• Perform embalming procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Conduct restorative work to restore the appearance of the deceased.
• Assist with the arrangement and placement of caskets, flowers, and other funeral service items.
• Coordinate with funeral directors and families to ensure all necessary information and documents are obtained.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the mortuary and equipment.
• Prepare and assist with funeral services, including setup and cleanup.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of all services performed.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Mortuary Technician, or related field.
• Knowledge of mortuary science and procedures.
• Understanding of state and federal regulations related to funeral services.
• Ability to handle and prepare deceased individuals with dignity and respect.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Compassionate and empathetic demeanor.

Working Conditions: The Mortuary Technician will primarily work in a mortuary setting, which may include exposure to chemicals and strong odors. The role may also require working long and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate funeral service schedules.
