Position: Reference Librarian

Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Reference Librarian to join our dynamic team. As a Reference Librarian, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive reference services to our patrons, including assisting with research inquiries, providing information literacy instruction, and managing our collection of reference materials. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others, exceptional communication skills, and a strong understanding of library resources and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide reference and research assistance to patrons in-person, over the phone, and via email.
• Conduct individual and group information literacy instruction sessions, including creating instructional materials and presentations.
• Develop and maintain the reference collection by selecting, evaluating, and purchasing relevant materials.
• Collaborate with other librarians to develop and implement new services and programs.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of the library's website and online resources.
• Stay updated on current trends and best practices in reference services and implement them in the library.
• Participate in library outreach efforts, including creating displays and conducting presentations.
• Provide excellent customer service by anticipating and responding to the needs of patrons.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a reference or research position in a library setting.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong understanding of library resources and technologies, including databases and online catalog systems.
• Experience providing information literacy instruction.
• Knowledge of current trends and best practices in reference services.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent customer service skills and a passion for helping others.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
