Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Boatswain to join our team. As a Boatswain, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the deck department on a vessel. You will work closely with the captain and other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the deck department, including assigning tasks and supervising crew members
• Ensure the proper maintenance and operation of all deck equipment, including ropes, winches, and cranes
• Conduct regular safety inspections and drills to ensure compliance with maritime regulations
• Monitor weather and sea conditions and make necessary adjustments to ensure the safety of the vessel and crew
• Handle mooring and anchoring operations, as well as docking and undocking procedures
• Maintain accurate records and logs of all activities and operations on the vessel
• Train and mentor new crew members on safety procedures, equipment operation, and general deck duties
• Participate in emergency response and rescue operations as needed
• Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering and catering, to ensure smooth operations and a positive work environment
• Manage inventory and ordering of necessary supplies for the deck department

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Boatswain or in a similar role on a vessel
• Strong knowledge of maritime regulations and safety procedures
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Proficient in operating and maintaining deck equipment
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions
• Valid seafarer's medical certificate and STCW certification
• Basic knowledge of navigation and seamanship
• Ability to work well in a team and adapt to changing situations
