The Cemetery Groundskeeper role is a physically demanding position that requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. Job Title: Cemetery Groundskeeper

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cemetery Groundskeeper to join our team. As a Cemetery Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the physical appearance and functionality of our cemetery grounds. Your role will be vital in ensuring that our cemetery is a peaceful and well-maintained final resting place for our community members and their loved ones.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, and watering to ensure the grounds are kept clean and well-manicured
• Plant and maintain flowers, shrubs, and trees throughout the cemetery
• Maintain and repair irrigation systems and water features
• Conduct regular inspections of the grounds to identify and address any safety hazards or maintenance issues
• Assist in the preparation and setup of gravesites for burials
• Maintain and repair cemetery equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and hand tools
• Ensure that all cemetery signage and markers are in good condition and clearly visible
• Provide excellent customer service to visitors and families by answering questions and providing assistance as needed
• Collaborate with other team members to plan and execute special events and ceremonies held at the cemetery
• Keep accurate records of daily tasks and report any major issues or incidents to the Cemetery Manager

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in landscaping or groundskeeping preferred
• Knowledge of horticulture and plant care
• Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods of time
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Compassionate and respectful demeanor towards grieving families and visitors
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
