Key Responsibilities:

Review loan applications and supporting documentation to determine borrower eligibility and creditworthiness
Analyze financial documents, including credit reports, tax returns, and bank statements, to assess risk and determine the appropriate loan amount
Verify accuracy of information provided by loan applicants and follow up on any discrepancies or missing information
Evaluate collateral, such as property appraisals and insurance policies, to ensure they meet lending standards
Utilize underwriting guidelines and make sound decisions regarding loan approvals, denials, or counteroffers
Communicate with loan officers, processors, and other team members to gather additional information and provide updates on loan status
Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and internal policies to ensure compliance in all loan decisions
Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries and addressing concerns from borrowers and other stakeholders

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage loan underwriting
Strong understanding of loan products, underwriting guidelines, and industry regulations
Proficient in analyzing financial documents and utilizing loan processing software
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to make quick and accurate decisions in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Team player with strong customer service skills
