Job Title: Academic Advisor

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as an Academic Advisor. In this role, you will be responsible for providing academic guidance and support to students in order to ensure their success in their academic pursuits. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for helping students achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain relationships with students in order to understand their academic needs and goals
• Advise students on course selection, program requirements, and academic policies and procedures
• Assist students in creating and updating their academic plans, taking into consideration their interests, strengths, and career aspirations
• Monitor students' academic progress and intervene when necessary to provide support and guidance
• Collaborate with faculty and other academic advisors to develop and implement academic support programs and initiatives
• Organize and facilitate workshops and information sessions on topics such as time management, study skills, and career planning
• Assist students in navigating academic challenges, such as course scheduling conflicts and academic probation
• Stay up-to-date on changes in curriculum and academic policies, and communicate these changes to students
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of student interactions and academic plans
• Participate in recruitment and orientation activities to assist new students in their academic transition
• Continuously evaluate and improve academic advising practices to better support student success

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years experience in academic advising or a related role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
• Strong understanding of academic policies and procedures
• Knowledge of different learning styles and academic support strategies
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
• Proficient in using technology for academic advising purposes
• Passion for helping students achieve their academic goals and providing excellent customer service
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
