Position: Reference Librarian

Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Reference Librarian to join our team. As a Reference Librarian, you will play a crucial role in providing accurate and timely information to our patrons. You will be responsible for assisting patrons in finding and accessing relevant resources, conducting research, and promoting library services. Your dedication to customer service and your extensive knowledge of library resources will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide reference and research services to library patrons in person, over the phone, and via email.
• Assist patrons in locating and accessing print and digital resources, including books, articles, databases, and other materials.
• Guide patrons in effectively using library resources and assist with research inquiries.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of library collections, services, and policies to effectively assist patrons.
• Collaborate with other librarians and library staff to develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of the community.
• Conduct information literacy instruction sessions and workshops for patrons to increase their research skills and knowledge of library resources.
• Stay up-to-date with current trends, technologies, and resources in the library field to provide innovative and relevant services.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the library's website, online resources, and social media presence.
• Participate in collection development activities, including selecting materials, evaluating collections, and weeding outdated resources.
• Assist with circulation and interlibrary loan services as needed.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of patron interactions, reference statistics, and other data as required.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a library, with a focus on reference services.
• Strong customer service skills and a passion for helping others.
• Excellent research skills and knowledge of library resources and research methods.
• Familiarity with information literacy instruction and library instruction techniques.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current trends and technologies in the library field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

• This is a Full-time position, with occasional evening and weekend shifts required.
• Work is primarily performed in a library setting, with some remote work possible.
• May involve extended periods of standing, sitting, and computer use.
