Position: Acquisitions Editor

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Acquisitions Editor to join our team. As an Acquisitions Editor, you will be responsible for identifying, acquiring, and developing quality content for our company's publications. You will work closely with authors, agents, and other publishing professionals to acquire new titles and ensure the success of the company's publications. The ideal candidate will have a passion for books, a keen eye for emerging trends, and strong negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify potential authors and titles that align with the company's publishing goals and market trends
• Build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and other publishing professionals
• Negotiate contracts and terms with authors and agents
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify new market opportunities
• Collaborate with the editorial team to develop and implement strategic plans for new titles
• Work closely with authors to ensure timely delivery of manuscripts and maintain communication throughout the publishing process
• Evaluate manuscripts and provide feedback to authors to ensure high-quality content
• Manage author relationships throughout the publication process and beyond
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market demands, and competitor activity
• Attend industry events and conferences to network and acquire potential titles
• Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop effective strategies for promoting and selling titles

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in acquisitions or editorial roles in the publishing industry
• Strong understanding of the publishing process and industry trends
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to identify and acquire high-quality content
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant publishing software
• Passion for books and a deep understanding of the publishing market
