Position: Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and insurance procedures. The primary responsibility of this role is to accurately code and bill medical procedures and services for reimbursement from insurance companies and other third-party payers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services
• Ensure all coding is accurate and in compliance with current coding guidelines and regulations
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on any claim denials or rejections
• Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain any necessary authorizations for procedures or services
• Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain any missing or incomplete documentation necessary for proper coding and billing
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and billing information
• Resolve any billing discrepancies or issues with insurance companies or patients
• Stay current with changes and updates in coding systems, insurance procedures, and regulations

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Billing and Coding preferred
• Certification in medical coding (CPC or CCS) required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding in a healthcare setting
• Thorough understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
• Knowledge of insurance procedures and regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid
• Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health records
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
