Job Title: Emergency Preparedness Specialist

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Emergency Preparedness Specialist to join our team. As an Emergency Preparedness Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of our organization in the event of a disaster or emergency. You will work closely with our leadership team and other departments to assess potential risks and vulnerabilities, and develop strategies to mitigate them. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively prepare our organization for any potential emergency or crisis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for our organization, including but not limited to natural disasters, medical emergencies, and security threats.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities, and work with relevant departments to develop mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate and lead trainings and drills to ensure all employees are prepared to respond in the event of an emergency.
• Collaborate with external agencies and organizations to stay informed about potential threats and emergency response strategies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local emergency management agencies and first responders to ensure a coordinated response in the event of an emergency.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all emergency-related communications and provide timely updates and guidance to employees and leadership.
• Monitor and evaluate emergency preparedness procedures and policies, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of emergency preparedness plans, activities, and trainings.
• Stay current with industry best practices and standards related to emergency preparedness and make recommendations for implementing new strategies and technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public health, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency preparedness or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of emergency response protocols, procedures, and best practices.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing emergency response plans.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with teams.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-stress situations.
• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to emergency preparedness.
• Ability to work flexible hours and be on-call for emergency situations.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) preferred.
