Job Title: Train Dispatcher

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Train Dispatcher to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the movement of trains on our railway system. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of train movements in compliance with company policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong understanding of railway operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor train movements and maintain accurate records of train locations, speed, and direction
• Communicate with train crews, track maintenance personnel, and other dispatchers to coordinate train movements
• Make decisions on train routing and scheduling to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods
• Monitor and respond to signals and alarms, and take appropriate action in case of emergencies
• Maintain constant communication with train personnel to relay any changes in schedules or routes
• Keep track of train schedules and delays, and adjust as needed to minimize disruptions
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure the smooth flow of trains and to resolve any issues that may arise
• Monitor and maintain radio and computer systems used for train dispatching
• Train and mentor new dispatchers and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
• Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and company policies to ensure compliance at all times

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in transportation or logistics is preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in train dispatching or a related field
• Strong knowledge of railway operations, including train movements, signals, and safety protocols
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with train crews, maintenance personnel, and other dispatchers
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to think quickly and handle emergencies calmly
• Proficient in using computer systems and technology, including radio and dispatching software
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment, with the flexibility to work irregular hours and weekends as needed
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
• Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations
• Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to changing industry regulations and company policies
