Job Title: Animal Care Specialist

Job Description: We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Animal Care Specialist to join our team. As an Animal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to a variety of animals, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of animal behavior, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide daily care and maintenance for a variety of animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising
• Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate supervisor
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by a veterinarian
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal housing areas
• Assist with behavioral training and enrichment activities to promote the physical and mental well-being of the animals
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of animal health, behavior, and treatment
• Assist with the intake and adoption processes for animals, including conducting meet and greets and completing necessary paperwork
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the facility and the highest level of care for the animals
• Educate and engage visitors and volunteers on proper animal handling and care techniques
• Participate in special projects and events as needed

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in animal science, biology, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with animals in a professional setting
• Strong knowledge of animal behavior, handling, and husbandry techniques
• Experience administering medications and treatments to animals preferred
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
• Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing the highest level of care for all animals
• Must pass a background check and drug screening
