Job Overview: As an Underwriter, you will play a critical role in the success of our organization by evaluating insurance applications and determining the appropriate level of risk and coverage for each policy. You will be responsible for conducting thorough research and analysis to assess the risk associated with each application and make informed decisions based on company guidelines and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance policies and regulations, exceptional analytical skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and evaluate insurance applications, including all supporting documents, to determine eligibility, coverage, and premium rates.
• Conduct risk assessments by gathering and analyzing data related to property, liability, and other relevant factors.
• Utilize underwriting guidelines and company policies to make decisions on approving or denying insurance applications.
• Collaborate with insurance agents and brokers to gather additional information and clarify any discrepancies.
• Communicate underwriting decisions to agents, brokers, and policyholders in a timely and professional manner.
• Monitor industry trends and changes in regulations to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
• Provide support and guidance to junior underwriters and other team members as needed.
• Participate in training and development programs to enhance underwriting skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in underwriting, preferably in the insurance industry.
• Strong knowledge of insurance policies, regulations, and underwriting guidelines.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and underwriting software.
• Certified Insurance Underwriter (CIU) designation is a plus.
