Position: Waste Management Technician

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Waste Management Technician to join our team. As a Waste Management Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper handling, transportation, and disposal of waste materials. This is a crucial role in maintaining a safe and clean environment for our company and the community. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of waste management regulations and possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine inspections of waste storage areas and ensure compliance with all waste management regulations
• Identify, segregate, and properly dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials
• Monitor waste collection and transportation processes to ensure proper handling and disposal methods are being followed
• Maintain accurate records of waste management activities, including the quantity and type of waste materials, disposal methods, and costs
• Operate and maintain waste management equipment, such as compactors, shredders, and incinerators
• Train and educate employees on proper waste management procedures and safety protocols
• Coordinate with external vendors for the pickup and disposal of hazardous waste materials
• Stay updated on changes in waste management regulations and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws
• Participate in emergency response procedures in the event of a waste spill or incident
• Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement waste reduction and recycling programs
• Conduct research and make recommendations for more efficient and environmentally friendly waste management practices

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in waste management or related field is preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in waste management, environmental services, or related field
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal waste management regulations
• Ability to analyze and interpret technical data and reports
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Proficient in operating and maintaining waste management equipment
• Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy objects
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed
