Job Title: Academic Advisor

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing academic guidance and support to students, helping them navigate their academic journey and achieve their academic goals. You will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure a positive and successful academic experience for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic advising to a diverse population of students, including undergraduate and graduate students, in person, via email, and over the phone
• Assist students with course selection, registration, and academic planning to ensure timely completion of degree requirements
• Monitor students’ academic progress and intervene when necessary to address academic challenges and promote academic success
• Provide information and resources to students regarding academic policies, procedures, and graduation requirements
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement academic programs and initiatives that support student success
• Conduct group advising sessions and workshops on topics such as time management, study skills, and academic goal setting
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation of advising interactions
• Serve as a liaison between students and various campus departments, including admissions, financial aid, and career services
• Stay current on industry trends and best practices in academic advising and student success to continuously improve advising services
• Participate in professional development activities and attend conferences and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in academic advising

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in academic advising or a related field
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems
• Knowledge of academic policies and procedures
• Strong understanding of student development and learning theories
• Ability to work with a diverse student population and sensitivity to cultural differences
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and a student-centered approach to advising

Working Conditions: This is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. The position is located on our campus and requires in-person work. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
