Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mortician/Embalmer to join our team. As a Mortician/Embalmer, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional funeral services to families during their time of need. You will be responsible for preparing and handling the deceased with the utmost care and respect, ensuring that all funeral arrangements are carried out in a professional and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Consult with families to discuss funeral arrangements and provide guidance and support during their time of grief
• Handle all aspects of the embalming process, including washing, disinfecting, and preserving the deceased's body
• Use cosmetics and other techniques to restore the deceased's appearance for open casket viewings
• Dress and casket the deceased, ensuring that they are presented in a dignified manner
• Coordinate and supervise funeral services, including arranging for transportation of the deceased, setting up the viewing and ceremony, and directing the funeral procession
• Oversee the preparation and filing of all necessary legal documents, such as death certificates and burial permits
• Work closely with funeral directors, cemetery staff, and clergy to ensure that all aspects of the funeral service run smoothly
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
• Provide support and comfort to grieving families, listening to their needs and addressing any concerns they may have
• Stay informed about industry trends and developments, attending workshops and conferences to continually improve skills and knowledge

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Mortuary Science program preferred
• Valid state license as a Mortician/Embalmer
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in mortuary science or funeral services
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to grieving families
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle delicate and emotional situations with sensitivity and professionalism
• Knowledge of embalming techniques and procedures, including restorative art and cosmetics
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other funeral service software
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
