Position Overview: The Livestock Production Technician will be responsible for assisting in the daily production and management of our livestock. This position requires a strong understanding of animal husbandry, nutrition, and health as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and a strong desire to contribute to the success of our company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the daily care and management of livestock, including feeding, watering, and monitoring health and welfare.
• Follow established protocols for vaccinations, treatments, and record-keeping.
• Maintain clean and sanitary living conditions for the animals, including regular cleaning and disinfection of pens, barns, and equipment.
• Monitor feed inventory and assist in ordering and receiving feed shipments.
• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities as needed.
• Assist with breeding and reproduction procedures, such as heat detection, artificial insemination, and pregnancy checks.
• Work closely with the Livestock Production Manager to ensure proper herd management and achieve production targets.
• Keep accurate records of animal inventory, feed usage, and other production data.
• Follow all biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of disease.
• Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others by following all safety protocols and procedures.
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve production processes and implement cost-saving measures.
• Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay up-to-date on industry best practices.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in livestock production, preferably in a large-scale operation.
• Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, nutrition, and health.
• Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit and able to work in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends as needed.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use production software.
• Understanding of biosecurity and animal welfare standards.
• Valid driver's license.
