Position: Sybase Admin

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $152000 - $192000

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sybase Admin to join our dynamic team. As a Sybase Admin, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our Sybase database systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role requires a strong understanding of Sybase database architecture, as well as excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain Sybase database systems, including installation, configuration, and upgrades.
• Monitor database performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner.
• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect critical data.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and performance.
• Perform database tuning and optimization, including index creation, partitioning, and query optimization.
• Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
• Maintain documentation of database systems, processes, and procedures.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in Sybase database administration.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sybase Admin.
• Strong understanding of Sybase database architecture and concepts.
• Experience with Sybase ASE, Replication Server, and PowerDesigner.
• Knowledge of database security and backup and recovery strategies.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as SQL, Shell, and Perl.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
