Position: Senior API Documentation Specialist

Location: New York, New York, United States

Salary: $100 Per hour

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior API Documentation Specialist to join our dynamic and growing team. As a Senior API Documentation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining comprehensive and user-friendly documentation for our API products. Your expertise in technical writing, API development, and project management will be instrumental in ensuring that our API documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain API documentation for our products, including API reference guides, release notes, and user guides.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and support teams, to gather and understand technical information and translate it into clear and concise API documentation.
• Stay current with industry trends and updates, and proactively recommend improvements to our API documentation process.
• Ensure that all API documentation adheres to our company's style guide and brand standards.
• Lead documentation projects, set and meet deadlines, and effectively communicate progress and challenges to stakeholders.
• Conduct regular audits of existing API documentation to identify areas for improvement and make necessary updates.
• Work closely with the development team to understand new features and updates, and incorporate them into existing documentation.
• Support API integration by providing clear and detailed documentation and responding to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in technical writing, computer science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in API documentation.
• Proven experience in developing and maintaining API documentation for complex software products.
• Strong understanding of API development and RESTful architecture.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Swagger, Postman, and Git.
• Familiarity with API security and authentication protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality and accurate documentation.
