Job Title: Principal API Documentation Specialist

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $270000 - $310000

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain high-quality API documentation for our company's products and services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and technical writers to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation
• Continuously review and update existing API documentation to reflect any changes or updates to the APIs
• Ensure that all API documentation follows industry standards and best practices
• Create interactive and user-friendly documentation to improve the overall user experience
• Develop and implement processes to streamline the API documentation workflow
• Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks accordingly
• Conduct periodic audits of API documentation to identify areas for improvement
• Work closely with the engineering team to understand technical concepts and translate them into easily understandable documentation
• Keep up-to-date with industry trends and changes in API documentation practices

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technical Writing, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in API documentation
• Strong understanding of API design and development
• Proficient in API documentation tools such as Swagger, Postman, and GitHub
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines
• Experience with Agile development methodologies
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
• Familiarity with API security and authentication protocols
• Prior experience in leading a team of technical writers is a plus
