Job Title: Principal Cloud Platform Engineer

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $270000 - $310000

Position Overview: As a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of our company's cloud platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the platform meets the needs of our customers and supports the growth of our business. This is a senior-level role that requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, strong leadership skills, and a passion for innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of our company's cloud platform, including infrastructure, services, and applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain cloud architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the cloud platform, keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Review and provide technical guidance for code changes, ensuring quality, scalability, and security of the platform.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing technical direction and guidance.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement automation and CI/CD pipelines for the cloud platform.
• Monitor and troubleshoot issues in the platform, providing timely resolutions and recommendations for long-term solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for critical incidents.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years of experience in designing and developing cloud-based solutions.
• Strong knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with microservices architecture, containerization, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficient in at least one programming language (Java, Python, Go, etc.) and experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering complex projects.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Proven experience in mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Certifications in cloud technologies such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect is a plus.
